Cryptocurrency doesn’t exist or work without the blockchain technology beneath it – this infrastructure was created to make Bitcoin and all the cryptocurrency that followed possible. The original concept for cryptocurrency in the form of the Bitcoin white paper came first but it doesn't even contain the word "blockchain." 

Cryptocurrency was an idea without a way to execute it. Blockchain is the technology and infrastructure that makes Bitcoin and all cryptocurrency possible. What is blockchain? What is the blockchain ledger? What are the different types of blockchains?
